How I Can Help
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space for people experiencing a wide range of mental health and emotional difficulties. I listen carefully to your experiences and what you hope to gain from therapy, working collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable to tailor my support to your individual needs.
You are welcome to bring whatever feels important, without fear of judgement. Together, we can explore what feels painful, confusing or unresolved, while helping you reconnect with your values, hopes and capacity for change. Therapy can offer space to reflect, consider a new direction and move towards a fuller sense of yourself.
My Therapeutic Approach
As a trained integrative psychotherapist, I draw thoughtfully from several therapeutic approaches rather than expecting one model to fit everyone. My work is collaborative, relational and responsive, enabling me to meet you as an individual and focus on what is most useful for you.
I understand that, as children, we often adapt our behaviour to preserve the love, approval or closeness of the people we depend on. These adaptations may have helped us feel safer at the time, sometimes at the cost of our own needs, feelings or sense of self. Over time, they can become harsh inner rules and familiar patterns of behaviour that operate on autopilot, even when they no longer fit the life we are living now.
In therapy, we can bring gentle attention to these automatic patterns and acknowledge the important purpose they once served. Rather than judging or trying to force them away, we can become curious about what they protected you from and whether they are still needed. As awareness grows, old and punishing rules that you did not consciously choose can begin to loosen, creating more freedom to respond differently.
Painful or traumatic experiences can be difficult to bear alone, and it can take time to feel safe enough to share more of yourself. I aim to offer steadiness, trustworthiness and genuine curiosity, allowing our work to develop at a pace that feels manageable. Over time, experiences of honesty and repair within the therapeutic relationship can make it possible to explore emotional pain, uncertainty, freedom, choice and responsibility in a more grounded way.
About Me
Before training as a therapist, I worked in financial services, where I gained valuable professional and life experience. Over time, I became increasingly drawn to work with a stronger sense of personal meaning and purpose. This led me back to questions of life, identity and meaning that had first interested me during my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, and ultimately to a career in Psychotherapy.
I completed more than four years of training at Regent’s University London, gaining a Master’s degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychotherapy. During this time, I developed my clinical experience through work in counselling centres across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. I continue to practise with South Bucks Counselling.
My training included an observational placement on an inpatient mental health ward, where I gained insight into the care of people living with enduring and complex mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, psychosis and treatment-resistant depression. The placement also gave me experience of multidisciplinary approaches involving antipsychotic medication and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
